Amy and Schuyler were married on September 13 with a ceremony and reception at Camp Plymouth State Park in Plymouth, VT.
Amy is a professional photographer, and it was really important to her to hire a photographer that she strongly connected with and trusted for a sense of composition and lighting. Knowing this, I was so honored that she chose me. Amy and Schuyler also really wanted to enjoy the entire weekend with their friends and family, so they fell in love with using Camp Plymouth State Park for their wedding, where everyone could stay for the weekend onsite.
Amy and Schuyler did a lot of the work themselves. Amy is not only a photographer but also a very talented graphic designer. She designed a personalized "logo" of sorts for their day and used it as camp patches that guests received as favors. She also used it on canvas tote bags that guests could take with them when they left and on their marriage certificate that all their guests were asked to sign. The logo was the start to a color theme that carried through the day with the bright floral arrangements and the peaches and pinks that the wedding party wore.
Amy and Schuyler had their entire wedding party help out with assembling the wedding. The groomsmen were tasked with decorating the reception hall the morning of the wedding. Not only did they all show up (!) but they were organized and got things done quickly and efficiently and were able to carry out Amy and Schuyler's vision beautifully. I was so impressed that Amy and Schuyler have such amazing friends that were able to help out like they did.
The day was very laid back. My second photographer spent some time in the morning with the guys getting ready (after they decorated), while I was with Amy and her wedding party. Amy got ready in one of the cabins that the campground offers. Once she and her wedding party were ready to go, we walked over to the ceremony. Schuyler had gotten there earlier and was waiting at the head of the line to go down the aisle, while his bride was at the end of the line. (He was good and didn't turn around to sneak a peek.)
The weather that day wasn't cooperating for an outdoor camp wedding. But Amy and Schuyler (and their friends and family), didn't let that cloud (no pun intended) their happiness. They were totally up for portraits outdoors—even after the rain started coming down harder.
During the ceremony, Amy and Schuyler asked their friends and family to stand up and share stories or anything else they wanted to say about the couple. It really reflected how everyone was there to celebrate this special couple.
The groom's mother made face masks for each guest, which were placed near the bride and groom's homemade photo booth for guests to take pictures with. Some wore them onto the dance floor, and Amy and Schulyer made sure I got a portrait with them together wearing their masks. The reception was fun, and everyone had a blast on the dance floor, which made for some really great dancing photos.
Thanks so much to Amy and Schuyler for asking me to be part of your wedding day! I love how you pretty much designed and planned the entire event yourselves. I was so impressed how you transformed this dining hall cabin into a gorgeous, rustic, and intimate reception! Thank you for trusting me to capture these moment for you. Congratulations!
