Julie and Ricky asked me a few months ago if I'd be interested in doing an amusement park themed engagement session at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire. I think they thought I'd think they were weird for picking that spot, but I immediately said YES! It was fun and different and I love fun and different. We picked a day in June and while we'd thought the weather would be nice, some rain snuck up on us toward the end of their session. The photos STILL turned out amazing and this is a good example why rain, during your engagement session or on your wedding day, doesn't have to be a total disaster! You can still get beautiful images (as long as your photographer know's what they're doing *wink wink*).
I asked Julie to tell me a little bit about how her and Ricky met and got engaged. Here's what she had to say:
"Ricky and I actually don't remember exactly how we met! Sometime in 2003, a bunch of friends were going to head out for a group dinner and before we knew it, all of our friends had canceled or made other plans, and it was just the two of us. So you could say, we went on our first "date" by accident. After that night, we quickly found that we loved spending time with each other, and were always making each other laugh and although it sounds corny, we fell in love. Fast forward to November, 30th 2012. I planned a little NYC getaway with Ricky to see the New York Christmas lights and decorations. The trip started out like any other. We checked into our hotel, walked around the city, and headed out for dinner. Ricky insisted we wait for a table to sit in the back part of the restaurant that was darker and full of candlelight and very cozy. I didn't think anything of it. We had a nice dinner and headed to Central Park for ice skating. We skated on the ice for a long while and then right before the Zamboni came out, Ricky decided that we should skate in the middle of the ice rink. I was skating around when all of a sudden, he got down on one knee and held out the most beautiful ring! I couldn't believe it! Of course I said yes! The people who stopped to watch us on the rink started cheering. We skated a few victory laps after the proposal and both agreed it was the best night ever!"
Julie and Ricky will be getting married at the Cruiseport in Gloucester, MA on New Years Eve!
