When Caitlin said they'd love to do their engagement session near Groton, MA, I immediately thought of The Barn at Gibbet Hill. The trails and old castle on the property are gorgeous and we had perfect weather that evening! Caitlin and Eric brought along their 1 year old chocolate lab, Jackson, for some of the images. He has so much energy we could barely get him to sit still!
I asked Caitlin to tell me a little more about how her and Eric met and got engaged, and this is what she had to say:
"Eric and I met at our first job out of college, but I actually remember seeing him for the first time about six months earlier. We were both being interviewed that day at the company where we ended up meeting and of course, he'd caught my eye. I wasn't from Massachusetts and had flown in just for the day and I remember thinking to myself, if I move here, I hope I can meet someone like him. When I saw him again on what turned out to be our first day of work together, I knew there was something there. Six and a half years (and four apartments, two jobs, 3 years of law school, and one giant chocolate lab) later, he proposed. My grandfather had this old wooden toolbox that he used his entire life for work, and when he passed away, my mother turned it into her jewelry box because of all the memories it held for her. Eric and I had been looking for a similar box for years but never found one. I didn't know it, but Eric had found the exact same toolbox and spent months refinishing it (secretly!) in the basement. On December 22 of last year, we were doing our own little Christmas celebration. I opened the gift and was already in tears over what he'd done for me -- and then he opened up the box and the ring was sitting inside. I was truly surprised and so happy we could share that moment, just the two of us, and our giant puppy! We're both so excited to celebrate this coming August with all our closest friends and family."
I'm so excited to photograph their wedding day this August at Moraine Farm!
